Villa Kang explodes with a mysterious jam on this track “Lady from Shanghai” pulling together elements of indie rock, 60s pop with sun faded guitars and a sweet hook: “Somewhere in the night / with a lady from Shanghai / she’s a touch of evil / can’t get caught up in her crossfire.” The tropical sounding xylophone during the hook gives it just the right dose of old school hocus pocus mood à la “Love Potion No. 9.” Wonderfully executed, this song succeeds in being fun and mischievous which is always a winning combo. It goes a step further by being incredibly catchy and summer ready.
